Coastal Sea School

Our quayside-teaching centre is situated adjacent to Weymouth Harbour. From the train station, turn left and head towards the main seafront. At the Beach turn right, follow the signs for “Cross Channel Ferry” (alongside the beach), head for the harbour, almost immediately you find railway lines set in the road. Follow these to the left and our door is on your right halfway down the old boat train platform.

The Coastal Sea School has its main office on the historic quayside of the port of Weymouth and the charming old Harbour. Our warehouse and workshop are nearby on the Isle of Portland where we maintain and service our fleet and larger equipment.

We enjoy spectacular views over Weymouth’s sandy beach and across the harbour to the lifeboat station and old harbour full of boats of all shapes and sizes.

We have a comfortable teaching room with filter coffee and refreshments. There is an online learning resource centre utilising interactive computer programs and systems. Maritime search and rescue exercises are practised using our four ship station GMDSS radio simulator.

The classroom is fully equipped with dry boards, magnetic boards and a variety of visual teaching aids. There are a host of models and dummy distress pyrotechnics for that realistic hands on experience. Restrooms and showers are conveniently situated on the same floor.

First aid courses use our “flashing lights” skill master manikins together with a host of little Annies and the rest of her family so there are plenty of opportunities for you to practice your technique and get it right. There are bandages, splints and other first aid equipment galore enabling you to become fully conversant with the art of first aid.

For our sea survival course we have a range of liferafts from individual sizes right through to twelve person rafts and larger. On hand there is a full liferaft emergency pack with all the equipment you might find in a survival situation. We have dummy EPIRB’s and SART’s and you can even sample liferaft rations to satisfy your curiosity.

We stock a range of training video’s covering first aid in the work place and at sea through to emergency stations and helicopter rescue.
There is a small shop stocking books, first aid kits and rescue equipment that we endorse by using ourselves when we operate the Coastal Safety Service.

The beautiful seaside town of Weymouth is just a few moments level walk away where you can find a host of guest houses, hotels, café’s, restaurants and hostelries to suit all tastes and pockets. The town features shops of all kinds even a department store for those last minute things we tend to forget.
